Belize Fly fishing lodge

Journeys End has been a great destination for us as it fits a lot of different groups.  It please every non fisher and every fisher as well ( as long as they like  beaches, gorgeous water and no cars)

One of the biggest things I like is that it has great on site fishing you can do without a guide.  You can take the kayaks out through the back lagoons to some wading flats that are world class, or you can wade up the beach in front and look for tailing bonefish in the grass flats. Some folks skip a day or 2 with a guide to explore on their own.

After reading this page you may want some more details by using the links found up and to the right of this text, they will overlay a specific detail page. For more pictures try out our new photo gallery topics also on the right, a little further down the page.

The trip begins in Belize City where you will board a small plane for your flight to the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Here we transfer to a boat for the final few miles to your private resort .  The Journey's End Resort is truly that, a white sand island scattered with palms with the Caribbean on all sides.

The fishing day begins with breakfast around 7:00 then its off to the flats.  The Mexican style Pangas and  our English speaking guides will put you onto fish quickly as the best flats are quite close to the lodge.

The nice part about this area of Belize (besides your family thinking you are not such a bad person after all) is the mix of fish available year round.

If you are out fishing the lunches are boxed with sandwiches and chips and fruit the normal fare with plenty of soft drinks water and beer on board. Each boat carries a guide and two anglers.   If you are not out fishing that day you have a full lunch menu to choose from each day at the resort.

After fishing everyone tends to gather round the bar for some exaggerated tales of the day and get into the island spirit. The Smiling Toucan bartender will keep your drinks full and your smiles broad!

Dinner is served in our restaurant at your leisure.  Each evening you will have a choice a a few seafood entrees and at least one chicken or beef entree. Click Here to see a sample menu for a day! If you were hoping you might loose some weight on this trip, you are mistaken.  The food is delicious.  Our American trained chef will delight you and fatten you up for tomorrow's activities.

After dinner relax at the Smiling Toucan or La Habana Martini bar or take a water taxi into San Pedro for a change of scenery.  Here you will find some shops, bars, and restaurants to visit.

For the diving guest the routine is pretty much the same except you will head out for the days dive right after breakfast.  The second largest barrier reef in the world and the finest dive facility and staff in Belize await you.  As a 5 star PADI IDC facility,  Nitrox and Trimix certified, with the reef 100 yards from your cabana we are the logical choice for your diving vacation.  Beginners through expert will appreciate the diversity of the sites and the quality of  guides and instructors.

How about a day at the Serenity Spa?   Everyone has unlimited use of all the sailboats, kayaks, canoes, pools, ping pong, volleyball, tennis which are included in all the packages.  You can rent a bike or golf cart if you want to venture a little farther on your own. Add to that the option to buy a day of fishing, snorkeling, diving or any one of the 15 different tours we have at the activities desk and you will see that this is not a boring fishing spot at all.  Ambergris Caye is  a world class fishing destination combined with more activities for non fishers than any other destination we offer.  A fishing honeymoon? A fishing wedding? It is possible here! In fact,  Lisa and I were married at Journey's End in April of 2000!  Both our families had a wonderful time whether they fished or not.

Recent Testimonials:

"This was absolutely heaven on earth. My husband and I came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The cottages are just gorgeous and so romantic. One day after our adventures on the golf cart, we returned to find our room filled with flower petals and a bottle of wine on the bed. It should be noted that they did this out of heart."
Elizabeth - February 2007

" I fished my brains out going out early for some tarpon with our guide and spending the afternoon fishing for bonefish in the back lagoons,  I landed a 7 pounder.  What I didn't expect was that my wife would have enjoyed this place as well..."

Rick - June 2007

" 5 tarpon 2 permit and many many bonefish, I almost had a grand slam one day but I lost the tarpon late in the afternoon"

Matt - Sept 2007

"I had my wedding at Journeys End Resort and have never had a better experience. This was an absolute joy. Mr. Bill is the best and went out of his way to accommodate my request."
Sarah from California - June 2007

"As a New Yorker this place was exactly what the doctor ordered, an easy-going place with loads of activities, no tv, and no telephone. All of the rooms are air-conditioned and very comfortable. There are free kayaks to adventure around, and the scuba instruction is out-of-this world. We were taught by Steve, Kevin, and Matt and they took us to some pretty amazing dive sites. If you want Club Med, this is not it. But if you want to escape and relax without pretension and have great fun at the same time - this place is for you!"
Visitor from New York - July 2007

"This was the hardest place to leave. I have never been on a vacation that I did not want to come home. The kindness of the staff and helpfulness was great. Curl was wonderful as well as all the waitress's . Our cabana was fabulous and the sunrises spectacular. We just had an all around great time. Thank you to all."
Alexandria, MN.

"This was the best vacation of my life! I went on a company incentive trip and I am begging to go back next year!. This makes me want to win the contest again."
Lisa, Miami, January 2008

"Thank you to the wonderful and courteous staff at Journeys End for the ultimate honeymoon! We experienced such paradise at your resort. It was beyond the best vacation anyone could ever dream of! Also thank you to the owners who were so generous to invite us fishing - we hope you caught a lot of wahoos! Expect us back !"
