The fishing in Chetumal Bay is the Ascension Bay was 20 years ago. Pretty much untouched. Just north of Belize is the village of Xcalak. We have found a lovely small hotel right on the beach just outside of Xcalak. It offers a great alternative for your fly fishing vacation for fishing and non fishing enthusiasts alike.
We match up the fine facilities here with the our favorite guides in town to provide a full service fishing package that will please the avid fly fisher and their non fishing families. Xcalak Beach is small enough to give very personal service and just large enough to provide full service with a bar and lovely restaurant on the grounds. Our local guides are the best the area has to offer and will insure you are into fish.

Testimonials
"Nato was my guide and he was great - lots of wading - lots of cooperative fish. He could spot them a long way off and gave good directions so I could get on the fish quickly. I went by myself this time on my first full day down there. We saw 100s of fish, got about 40 shots, hooked up 20 times, landed 12." Feb. 2008
"Jose was my guide I spotted 100s of fish again, got about 20 shots, hooked up 10 times, landed 7. Jose was also an excellent guide - excellent English - fantastic directions for spotting/casting to fish. This wading was a bit tougher - we went to an area with a much softer bottom. The guides bring along a helper who follows behind you with the boat as you wade. When you're ready to go to a new spot, the boat is always a short walk. A great service for sure." Feb 2008
"Our favorite spot in Mexico so far! We cannot say enough good things about this quaint and beautiful little hotel. From our first booking inquiry to the end of our week-long vacation the service was impeccable. The accommodations were clean, well-appointed, and beautifully decorated in local style. Every room faces the ocean, and depending on the floor, has either a patio or balcony complete with chairs and a small table. Although we opted for only the "standard" room we found it to be larger than we expected and even felt that our view from room 6 might just have one of the best views of the ocean.
The wonderful owners, Kim and Dave, live on site full time. They were a pleasure to get to know, as well as a wealth of information about fishing, snorkeling, local attractions, San Pedro day trips, etc. They also have a superior staff who really made us feel welcome and made every effort to accommodate us. (Thanks again Eduardo!) I also want to mention that we booked 2 guided fishing days and our guides, Victor and Nato (Fortunato) each did a spectacular job." April 2007
"We loved this hotel. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff and hosts are very nice. The beach is clean and uncrowded. Plenty of hot water! The meals are fantastic. (My only request would be that they include a childs menu.) The hotel is close to town, which is very nice. I would stay here again. Thanks David..." Jan 2007
